Stardust

"A glorious fantastical adventure," raves Daily Mirror's Mark Adams for Stardust an epic fairy tale starring Claire Danes with Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro. A beautiful girl (Sienna Miller), Tristan (Charlie Cox) promises to bring her a falling star but he is shocked by the adventure of his life when he discovers the star is actually a celestial beauty named Yvaine. When an old witch Lamia (Pfeiffer) attempts to steal Yvaine's youth, Tristan must protect her at all times/ This magical fairy tale like no other will make you laugh out loud and believe in love again.

This movie is a good movie when it comes to action. If you are one of them people who like an action packed film rather than a quiet one, this will be for you. I really like the combination of a love story with action as it is something different and shows two sides of a 'story'. Also, although the movie can be a bit hard to follow the first time you watch it, you soon pick up the story line when you watch it for the second time and try to really understand it.

However, the down fall of this movie would be the fact that, even though the blurb says it will make you 'laugh out loud' I personally don't think this movie would do that. Unless, you are the one of few people who laugh at anything... I would say that it tries to be funny but it really doesn't succeed. The closest to funniest part of the film would be when the captain dresses up as a lady and begins to dance around with a feather boa.

To summarize, the film has many genre's included which makes it suitable for many types of audience. Furthermore, it is not gory and has no sex scene's which makes it suitable for all ages too. Stardust is a fantastic film to watch with the family and has many aspects to create an exciting and eventful atmosphere. This movie would be better off to watch in the cinema but since it is not playing there anymore, I would suggest watching it on a bit screen TV with surround sound to get the best out of the DVD.

Rating: 7/10
