Diary 16.12.12

Well tonight I am going out for my birthday meal, finally! I am excited but at the same time I feel as though I could possibly get bored. Bex is coming too though which is the best part and I have a gorgeous dress to wear.

I woke up, had a coffee, put on a Cascada CD, did my weekly exercising (push ups, sit ups, weights, jumps and scissor jacks). I the stretched by touching my toes for 30 seconds and did a bit of meditation. Then, I went for a walk, came back and had a bath, read a couple chapters of my book 'Secrets' by Jacqueline Wilson, moisturized my feet, washed my hands thoroughly after being weed on by my kitten (LOL), helped my mum tidy my room and then I set out my uniform for tomorrow.

What I need to do now is my makeup, hair, get changed and apply some perfume for tonight. I don't think I am going to go all out with my hair and makeup because my dress already makes a statement. I can't wait for the food mainly, barbecue spare ribs for starter, Margarita pizza for main and then I am not sure yet for dessert. It most likely will be something chocolaty. I've been making sure that I don't eat too much today. All I have had is a Go Ahead bar.

Now it's just the fact that I have to get off my lazy bum and do something soon. I am getting a taxi there with my mum and on the way we will be picking Bex up. my Grandma and her girlfriend (no rude remarks please) are meeting us there at the Italian restaurant and that's all who is coming. I wanted my step dad to come but her has to work which I am really gutted about.

This is also the first time that Bex is going to meet my family properly. I hope she likes them because they are a bit crazy. My mum has a huge habit of laughing too much, my grandma sings a lot and Catherine... well she gets in a mood once she has had something to drink. They are a bunch of characters but I love them too much to bitch about it.

Well, I think it's time that I go get ready. Talk to you later!:)

Top 5 Beauty Products So Far!

I have decided to share with you all, the best 5 beauty products that I am really lovin' at this time of year. :3
These products are boss.

5. Oil Of Aloe Vitamin Rich Moisturizing Lotion - Enriched with Aloe Vera - pH balanced - 400ml - 60% Extra Fill

This is number five due to the smell. It's gorgeous! Obviously, because of the aloe vera in it, it is bound to smell nice. It does a good job at keeping your skin soft too.

4. Systeme - Pro Vitamin - 2 in 1 Volumising Gel Spray - With conditioner, For all hair types and Alcohol free - 250 ml

This feels so good on the hair. I was a bit sceptical at first because my sister gave me it claiming that it made her hair greasy. I didn't try it for a few months and then I though, might as well give it a go! So glad I did now. It makes my hair shiny and soft. :3
The application is also really easy to get out because it is via squirts. :P
I put this on wet hair before I blow dry it and it works wonders by making my hair soft, shiny and bouncy... A girls dream huh?

3. DermaVIO Tech Solutions - 4.8g

I have a sneaky feeling that I will be using this lip blam for a VERY long time... It's amazing. It smells nice, tastes nice, looks nice and feels nice, what's not to love? It glides on like a dream leaving your lips super soft and shiny.

2. Saffrom London Nail Polish in the colour 40

I love this nail polish brand. The formula glides on perfectly and lasts for a decent amount of time with little chipping. The colours are gorgeous too. I have a hot pink one and a red one. I would definatley purchase more colors.

1. Baylis & Harding England Skin Spa - rose, ylang ylang & patchouli - rich intensive body butter - 250ml

I love this body butter! It is definatley the best skin care/item that I have ever had. I apply it once I get out of the bath and it glides on smoothly and is spreadable which makes it even.

It smells nice, the packaging is gorgeous and it makes you feel like a superstar... honestly! Because of this product I actually can't wait to get in the bath!:3

I'm sorry that there are no pictures. This is because I don't have a camera at the moment (getting on for Christmas) and I don't want to use my phone because the picture quality is terrible...

Edward's Scissorhands

Once upon a time in a castle high on a hill lived an inventor whose greatest creation was named Edward. Although Edward had an irresistible charm, he wasn't quite perfect. The inventor's sudden death left him unfinished, with sharp shears of metal for hands. Edward lived alone in the darkness until one day a kind Avon lady took him home to live with her family. And so began Edward's fantastical adventures in a pastel paradise known as Suburbia.

From Tim Burton, the director of "Sleepy Hollow" and "Mars Attacks," comes an unforgettable fairy tale about a most unusual character. Starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest and Vincent Prince as the Inventor.

I love this film. I would say it is entertaining, romantic, comical and haunting. Johnny Depp acted exceptionally well in this film, I can only imagine how hard it must have been to play the character Edward Scissorhands who has been trapped in a cold dark mansion most of his life. Another thing is, I like the idea of how the ''Monster'' was invented by a lonely old man and his experiments. It is basically an updated version of Frankenstein. I do feel sorry for the main character as it must be really hard to have hands made of sheers.

The whole idea of the Avon lady is great as it is a modern twist to the old tale. I don't understand how one minute she is scared of him and the next she is letting him live with her but you never get answers from films. This character realises that Edward is different and therefore, she takes him in as one of her own offering him the help and support he needs. I think to some point, she does take an advantage of Edward as a practice of makeup but she does grow an attachment and she does mean well. The fact that she takes this strange character home to show her kids and husband is just comical. Edward gets more interested in the family photo's, especially of the blonde daughter. The best thing about Edward is the fact that he looks terrifying but he is more kindhearted than most of the human characters in the story.

The makeup and costume of Johnny Depp's characters is just fantastic. It is like a nightmare with a nineties twist. The addition of Edward's skill is also a good idea (cutting bushes into shapes) as it gives the storyline some edginess. The fact that Edward then goes on to cutting hair and becoming very popular is just another twist. The character in itself is phenomenal.

The downfall of the story is when Edward becomes an outcast once again as he is being blamed for many things. Tim Burton seems to relate to Edwards story. The way he shows the acceptance of an abnormal being and then Edward loosing the popularity shows this. Also, Edward is announced as a freak, a fake and a demon. This is shown when he rejects a housewife who tries to 'get it on' with him, a teen bully who forces him into crime and when Edward tries to touch the people he loves, he makes them bleed.

Finally, Edward doesn't get what he wants in the end. He looses his loved one and begins a life of loneliness once again. The only bad thing that I could say is that the way the film was staged wasn't the best. However, Tim's ideas are brilliant. the fact that Kim (Edward's love) goes from being scared of even looking at him to falling in love with him is the most romantic even though her friends do not support the idea. She eventually comes to cherish Edward due to his devotion to her. The best scene of the film is when Edward makes an ice sculpture of her and she begins to dance in the grains of ice which are falling down - almost like snow. This is a way of Edward showing his feelings through his art. The intimacy level at this stage is beautiful. The two characters almost switch feelings as there is one point near the end of the film where Edward pulls back his arms in fear but Kim then goes ahead and wraps his scissored hands around her back showing courage. The climax is also quite wonderful. this film isn't perfect but it is 99% there.

OOTD #4

I am terribly sorry for the picture quality. Basically, I am wearing a white top with an outline of a tiger on it and sequins on top with blue jeans which have knee ruffles on (you can't see this). I was also wearing a black tank top underneath because it can be see through. I wore this with white sandals, white scarf, white gloves, black coat and white ear muffs.

I wore this out Christmas shopping with my sister. I also went to McDonald's and the bus station! xD

For my hair, I slept in plaits which made it wavy. I then just left it down and care-less.

My makeup was very simple. I didn't wear foundation or concealer due to my problemed skin which I have gained recently and I didn't want to make it worse. I put a little bit of bronzer on my cheekbones followed by mascara. For the lips, I added on a lipstick using a lip brush and then went ahead and applied it using the actual lipstick in the end. Then to finish off I added some pink gloss and it was done. You can't see this in the picture though because I took it just before I got changed into my PJ's.

I didn't wear any jewelry apart from a necklace which I recieved from an old boyfriend. It is really silver, has a dainty chain and is finished with a silver love heart which hangs neatly on the chest. I adore it.

The perfume I used was Mirella - Dreams.

How much? and Where did you get it?
Necklace - Ex Boyfriend
Top - Moda £7.99
Jeans - Local Denim Clothing Shop £10
Socks - Primark £1.50 (for pack of two)
Black Tank Top - Primark £3
